The moment
A sky that goes dark at midday
For a few extraordinary minutes, the Moon slides fully in front of the Sun. Daylight fades to twilight, the temperature drops, and the Sun's corona — usually invisible — blazes into view around a perfectly black disc. Birds fall silent. Around you, a few dozen people share a moment most of humanity will never witness.
A total solar eclipse is not a bigger, better sunset — it is genuinely rare, and genuinely unforgettable. This is the moment the whole expedition is built around.

What generally happens while the Sun is fully covered, from the first diamond ring to the last.

Eclipse day. Gather with your group at a dedicated viewing site in Luxor to witness roughly six minutes of totality as the Moon covers the Sun over ancient Egypt.

Frequently asked questions
What if it's cloudy on eclipse day?
No eclipse site can guarantee clear skies, and we won't pretend otherwise. Luxor was chosen partly because August there is typically hot, dry and sunny, and our viewing site is chosen with local weather patterns in mind.
How does the deposit and balance work?
A deposit secures your place, with the remaining balance due closer to departure. Exact amounts and dates will be confirmed before booking opens — see "Booking status" above for what is confirmed and what is still pending.
How large is the group?
We limit this expedition to around 25 travellers so everyone gets personal attention from our guides and a comfortable spot at the eclipse viewing site.
How physically demanding is the trip?
The pace is moderate: guided walking tours at historical sites, some uneven ground, and warm August temperatures. No technical or strenuous activity is required.
Do I need to book my own international flights?
Yes — international flights to and from Egypt are not included, so you arrange and purchase these yourself. We advise booking as soon as your place is confirmed.
Are the domestic flights between Cairo and Luxor included?
No — you book them yourself. The programme plans for Cairo to Luxor on the morning of 1 August 2027 and Luxor to Cairo on the evening of 5 August 2027. We'll recommend flights and timing once group availability and pricing are confirmed.
Do I need to create an account to book?
No. You can reserve your place as a guest — no forced account creation. You'll optionally be able to use a passwordless link sent to your email to view your booking later.
